My last update here was that I got married, and then I fell off the blogging wagon. I stopped making updates to my house after that just due to life getting crazy and not knowing what the future held for us in my beloved little old house. Lance and I always knew that the house had some quirks that would make raising a family in it a little challenging, but I also knew that I loved our neighborhood too much to leave it. I’ve pictured walking my kids to school, taking them to the park down the street, and summertime bike rides to get ice cream. I knew I wasn’t going to re-create that in any other neighborhood, but I was also aware that I got lucky to get this house for the price I got it at in 2020 and there was no way we could afford to buy something else that was currently on the market in the neighborhood.
After a lot of discussion and weighing our options we have decided to move out of our little house…and into an apartment temporarily because we are RENOVATING! I did a little bit of renovation when I bought the house, which made it perfect for my 25 year old single self to live in with my best friend and dog, but this renovation is going to be a little more in depth. I can’t wait to share the whole process here and on my social media platforms!
This whole process started late last year when we found a contractor we liked who did not want us to just tear down the house and rebuild (which was discussed and probably would have been quicker and a comparable price). We then worked with an architect to come up with a plan to get pretty much everything we wanted in a house without having to do too crazy of an addition on our existing foundation. We did have to wait another 4.5 months for our permits to be approved thanks to the city dragging their feet, but as I am writing this, demo has finally begun and construction is underway.
