Top 5 Projects I Want to Complete in 2023

February 6, 2023

We are already in February of 2023, but I am just now getting around to making plans for my house projects this year. I haven’t been in a project or DIY mindset until this past weekend, but I started a new project and my motivation is revived!! I am prioritizing 5 projects this year (with an honorable mention of a completed project) because frankly I doubt I’ll have time for many more. Lance and I have been invited to 3 weddings this year (all out of town) and are planning our own for 2024, so combining that with just life in general, I’m setting my expectations for myself pretty low. None of these are huge projects by any means, but just things I’ve been wanting to work on and get done!

1) Revamp the Laundry Room

I actually started this project over the weekend, but my laundry room desperately needs more storage. One of the first projects I did in my house was adding cabinets and a work station in the laundry room, so I am just expanding on that first project and making it even better! I also will be figuring something out for a door because the bi-fold door that was there when I bought the house just ain’t cutting it anymore! I’m hoping to get this whole project done in the next few weeks!

2) Add A Stair Runner

My stairs are steep and slippery, so they are just a hazard. This should have been a project 3 years ago, but I am committed to getting it done early this year!

3) Make My Bedroom A Place I Actually Enjoy

I have never loved my bedroom, which is a shame since it’s at the front of my house off of the main living space. But this is the year I change that! I actually love components of my room, but feel like I just need to make it all tie together. I’m thinking some paint and new wall decor may be the only things that need to change!

4) Finish My Bonus Room “Built-Ins”

I bought IKEA shelving for my bonus room over a year ago, but I have never spent the time to actually make them look good! This will hopefully be an easy project on my budget since the bulk of the expense comes from the pieces I already have!

5) Clean Out and Organize My Carport

This probably doesn’t seem like a big project, but if you could see the state my carport is in, you’d understand! My dad and I have some plans to get this area under control, and I am looking forward to getting rid of junk and creating useful long lasting storage solutions!

Honorable Mention: Finish the Gym Shed

This is an honorable mention because my dad and I actually finished this the first week of January! I will be making a post soon, but I am thrilled that this project is finally completed.

Welcome to Bluebonnet Porch! I’m Clare, a 30 year old newlywed living in Raleigh, NC with her husband and two dogs! I bought my (well, now I guess it’s our’s) house in 2020 when I was a single 25 year old and have spent the last 4 years renovating it and making it my dream house! It is a 100ish year old craftsman bungalow in Downton Raleigh, North Carolina, and I pinch myself every day that I get to live here.

I love all things home decor, DIY, food, entertaining, reading, and working out, and I can’t wait to share more about my life with y’all!
