Wallpaper has been everywhere recently, and I wanted to jump on the bandwagon. I was listening to Young House Love Has a Podcast and they mentioned ways to add happiness. One suggestion was to add wallpaper to smaller rooms or closets in your home. This gave me the idea to wallpaper the back wall of my laundry room.
I knew I wanted to redo the shelving in my laundry room to add room to hang dry clothes, so this was a great opportunity to overhaul the whole room. I guess calling it a room is a long shot since it is really just a closet. I found this wallpaper at Home Depot that was super affordable compared to other wallpaper websites. I ended up needing to buy two rolls due to how the pattern repeated, which in total cost me about $65.
This was my first time using a peel and stick wallpaper, and I ran into some challenges. I suggest using painters tape, an xacto knife, and patience to get the job done. The most challenging part was working around all of the washing machine hookups, but I did it and it’s *almost* all lined up correctly.
My laundry room originally had two wire shelves that stretched all the way across the room, so I was limited to this space for all of my laundry supplies and linens. I also had to use an ugly bulky fold out drying rack, which took up so much space when it was in use. I really wanted to have hanging space in my laundry room to dry clothes. My amazing boyfriend helped me put up one full width shelf at the top of the closet and two half width shelves over the dryer. We hung a clothes bar under the long shelf, so I can hang clothes over the washer.
I bought baskets from Target to store my bed sheets, extra towels, beach towels, wash clothes, and workout towels. I also found the Laundry Co. sign in the dollar spot sections of Target.
Overall, I love how my laundry room turned out and I am so excited to was my mounds of dirty clothes in this space!!
