Hi y’all! If you saw my post a few weeks ago, you’d know that I was doing a “no spend month”. I laid out specific rules for myself and promised I would be honest with y’all on how it went. Let’s just say it did not go well. It isn’t even supposed to be over until the 26th, but there is no trying to redeem myself now.
The first few weeks were actually great, I stuck to my rules and only slipped up twice by getting Starbucks. When I hit the end of the 2nd week, I got a coupon for 35% off an item at Kirkland’s, which is pretty rare. I decided to buy a mirror I’d had my eye on for a long time as an “exception.” Well, that wasn’t the only exception I made.
One fateful night, I was filing my taxes like the good citizen I am, and I ended up owing almost $500. At that moment, I just ended the no spend month. In my head, if I was paying the government that much money than it meant I wasn’t cut out for a no spend month. I ended up relieving some of this stress the next day at the mall and bought a new pair of shorts.
Although I didn’t do too well on this challenge, I want to try it again one day and really push myself to not cheat. If I do manage to successfully complete it, I’ll let y’all know if it changed my life or if I still love shopping just as much as I do now.
If any of y’all have done a no spend challenge, let me know your results and tips!!
