Happy Sunday!! It has rained non stop in Raleigh for the past week, so I have not gotten much done around the house to post about. I decided a beauty related post would be a nice change of pace.
I have cleared up my skin so much over the last year! My skin was so bad in my early 20’s that I tried everything! I tried Proactive, the blue light treatments, Rodman & Fields and so much more, but nothing worked!! I realized that the issues with my skin weren’t necessarily caused by acne, but rather my skin was super irritated and red due to the products I was using and a not so healthy college lifestyle. I started trying different products (in addition to drinking more water and getting more sleep) and finally found a regimen that works for me!
A little back story on my skin, I have extremely dry skin year round, but it is especially bad in the winter. I have to keep my skin super hydrated and moisturized or else it will literally flake off. I also have been trying to use more natural products, but it’s taking awhile to find product replacements that actually work.
I start each day by washing my face with Botanics Foam Wash, which is an all natural cleanser I found at Target. I love the fact that it foams and is much gentler on my face than other face washes. I then apply my First Aid Beauty Pure Mineral Sunscreen Moisturizer and CeraVe Eye Repair Cream. Both of these products absorb quickly into my skin, which helps speed up my morning routine.
In the evening, I make sure to remove my makeup using CeraVe makeup wipes before I wash my face using the same Botanics Foam Wash I use in the mornings. After my face is washed I apply Neutrogena Deep Moisture Night Cream before bed.
There are certain skincare steps that I like to do once or twice a week, including exfoliating my face using St. Ives Gentle Smooth Oatmeal Scrub. I keep this in my shower and use it when my face is flaky and starting to look rough. It is extremely gentle, so I never have to worry about it over exfoliating and causing my skin to dry out more.
I also like to do eye masks and face masks once a week, but unfortunately I have not found a product I love enough to share on the blog. If you have recommendations for face and eye masks, please let me know!!
