It has been a long time coming!! I’m about to hit 2 years of living in my house, and this week my (favorite) uncle was in town and helped me complete my kitchen renovation. And by “helped me” I mean he replaced the entire backsplash on his own! I am also allowed to say he’s my favorite uncle because he’s the only uncle who reads my blog, so shout out to Uncle Jon!!
Here is a before picture of my kitchen taken on July 20, 2017 right after we closed on the house, but before we did any renovations.
The first step in the renovation process was replacing the countertops, sink, and faucet. My mom actually picked out the countertops and did the whole process for me! The granite she chose was Venetian Gold Granite.
Next, we put wood look laminate flooring over the old wood floors that Corona was tearing up! The kitchen stayed like this for a while until May when I decided I wanted to get the cabinets painted. I chose Sherwin Williams Greek Villa for the paint color, and it brightened the room so much!! However, the white cabinets made the ugly backsplash even more noticeable.
That brings us to this last week. My mom found this tile and we decided to go for it, but didn’t want to pay as much as the professionals were quoting us, so luckily Uncle Jon stepped up and helped out. It took a few days, but the new backsplash looks amazing!! The tile is a 3″x12″ white textured subway tile (Pasha Collection 3″x12″ Marlow Cloud Matte Wall Tile)!
I absolutely love how my kitchen looks now, and I can’t wait to use the heck out of it! And try to keep it clean (yikes)!

Hi! How are the cabinets holding up with the coffee pot? I’m worries about the steam from ours-we have the same one and about to paint our cabinets! Thanks!

I did notice that it started to cause a little bit of warping, so I had to move it to an open area. It didn’t cause damage that wasn’t easily fixable, but I feel like it would have if I had kept it there longer!
