Happy March! I can’t believe 2020 is going by so quickly. It has been a whirlwind of a year and it just keeps getting more exciting. I started doing renovations at my new house this weekend, but wanted to share photos from the day I closed so y’all can see what I’m working with. I would not consider this house a true “fixer upper” because it is totally livable the way it is, but it just isn’t my style.
The Kitchen
The kitchen will be the biggest interior project! It was an addition to the house in 2002, and I originally wanted to change the layout to add an island but it was just not space nor cost effective. Also, I will unfortunately have to keep the microwave over the stove, which I hate, but there is no good place to relocate it and apparently there isn’t a way to vent it without the microwave. My plan is to paint the cabinets, get new white countertops, bring the peninsula to counter height, and get new flooring! This project isn’t at the top of my list, but I am hoping to get it done within the first year if my budget allows.
The Laundry Room
This laundry room is huge and a total blank canvas. The new flooring from the kitchen will run in here and I’m thinking of adding a fun wallpaper.
The Downstairs Bathroom
This project is underway and will be revealed soon. I will be changing out everything except for the tub in this room, and it is going to be so cute! I am super lucky that the original cast iron tub was left in the home and that the tub is tiled with a classic subway tile. This saved me a lot of time and effort!
The Master Bedroom/Office
The master bedroom is right off of the living room and has beautiful french doors. It connects right into another smaller room which will be used as my office/workout room. The master closet is in this room so the spaces will all flow together. I will only be changing out the light fixtures in these rooms, so no major renovation work will need to be done!
The Living and Dining Rooms
These two rooms aren’t in need of much work. Again, I will be changing out the light fixtures and window treatments. I will also (actually I already did) paint the fireplace and I will hopefully be sharing that with y’all soon because I really stepped out of my comfort zone with the color choice!
The Upstairs
The upstairs of my house has 2 bedrooms, a bonus area, and a bathroom. Luckily no major changes need to be made except for again, light fixtures. The bathroom is already pretty updated and will likely stay the same for a few years. The only big project in the bathroom will be to add a shower kit to the clawfoot tub, which I somehow didn’t get a picture of this day.
The Exterior
The biggest and most costly part of my renovation is going to be the exterior of my home. I will be doing some boring necessary things like getting a new roof, fixing some masonry issues, and leveling the front porch, but I will also be doing fun things like getting new siding and painting the house adding a fun front door with a pop of color and fencing in the backyard for Corona to run. There is also a great back patio, which will be losing the ugly canopy and becoming a super relaxing oasis.
I cannot wait to show y’all all of the updates as they are happening! Make sure you subscribe, so you are notified of all of my new blog posts!
