Valentine’s day is one of those holidays that people either love or hate. I personally love it because everything is pink, and its just another reason to celebrate! This is the second year I decided to treat my friends to a fun Galentine’s Brunch! I know its a bit early, but when your schedules are as crazy as my friend’s and I’s, January will have to do! I value my female friendships a lot and even though most of my friends are married, engaged, or in serious relationships, I still want to make sure we take the time to be with each other prioritize girl time! It was a blast and here is how you can do it for you and your friends:
Step 1: Fun Invitation
Getting a formal invitation to an event is always more special than just a simple text. It only took me 5 minutes to find this cute template on Canva and customize it into an invitation for brunch. Everyone loved getting the invitation and when they needed to reference it, it was much easier to find in iMessage than a normal text would have been!
Step 2: The Decorations
The biggest downside of hosting this brunch in January was that all of the decorations weren’t yet out in stores. I also knew I didn’t want to go overboard, so I tried to keep it simple. I borrowed some banners from a friend who was in attendance and hung those on the mantle and stairs. I also got some simple glittery hearts to tape up on the window of the dining room. I had bought heart shaped balloons, but didn’t end up using them just due to running out of time. The decorations were simple, but added enough of a flare to know what we were celebrating. I really wanted to focus to be on the next step…
Step 3: The Table Setting
The table setting was my favorite part of the entire planning process! I have become a huge fan of hosting parties and making the tables the star of the show. For this event, I made floral arrangements with roses, babies breaths, and some other small flowers, and I set the table around those. I found cute heart plates and cloth napkins at Home Goods, and I happened to have this adorable pink flatware that was perfect for the occasion! I also used valentine cards from Target to make the place cards! To garnish I added rose petals I pulled off of an old bouquet.
Step 4: Dress Code
I love putting a dress code in place for parties; it always makes things more fun if everyone is on the same page with what to wear. The dress code for this brunch was “Valentine’s Festive” aka pink, red, and white! I wore this insanely fuzzy pink coat that was a hit!
Step 5: The Menu
This is the part where you can get creative! I like hosting brunches because the food is easy. I made this casserole and its always a hit! I also got a little heart shaped waffle maker and made gluten free and regular waffles with berries and Nutella as options for toppings; they were adorable! I also put out brunch staples like pastries, bacon, fruit, and mimosas! To make the mimosas a little more fun I rimmed the champagne glasses in sprinkles, which actually looked cuter in my head than it did in real life. The food was all delicious and while I had leftovers, I did not have that many leftovers, which was perfect!
Overall my galentine’s day brunch was a smashing success! My friends all had a great time and it was just a good day to catch up with my girlies. I think this will 100% become an annual tradition!
