Hi y’all! I posted a few weeks ago about starting a new job, which was super exciting for me. I decided that when I started that job, I’d change my morning routine to start my days off on a better note.
I used to wake up and be out the door within 30 minutes leaving no time to relax or have coffee and breakfast. I pushed my arrival time back to 7:45 for my new job opposed to the 7:15-7:30 arrival time I had for my previous job. I also made myself wake up a little earlier (nothing crazy, just 10 minutes) and set my clothes out the night before. This helps expedite the getting ready process, so I have more me-time before I leave for work.
Once I’m ready for work, I make my bed, which I never used to do, but it makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something before 7 AM. Then I head downstairs and take the dogs out while my coffee brews. I’d love to be able to get to a point where I can workout or at least take the dogs on longer walk, but I’m not going to push myself to do that just yet. After the dogs are settled with empty bladders, I site down and sip my coffee while filling out my gratitude journal. I fount this journal on Amazon for just a few bucks, and I have really been enjoying filling it out each morning. It has a line for the date and 3 lines for things you are thankful for. I usually write down the first three things that come to mind, and having those positive thoughts first thing in the morning help me focus on what is important the rest of the day. This journal is nice to have to make me feel like I have a designated place to write down what I’m thankful for, but you could easily just use any notebook or even your phone. I plan to start writing my things in my planner once I run out of space in this journal.
I am trying to find ways to keep myself from over stressing about little things, so having this morning time to reflect on the good in my life and drink my coffee alone is really beneficial. Let me know what you do to start your day off on a positive note!
