I am honored to be my best friend, Farra’s, maid of honor for her September wedding. One of the main duties for the maid of honor is the bachelorette party, and I took this responsibility SERIOUSLY! I was so excited to plan it, and we had such a good time.
I wanted to be extremely conscious of all of the bridesmaid’s budgets and also make sure we had a weekend that was comfortable for everyone. There are 8 bridesmaids total, but only 7 were able to make it. We came from New Jersey and North Carolina, so I also wanted to make sure travel would be easy for everyone.
I am extremely lucky that I have an amazing mom who allowed us to use her house in Charleston, South Carolina, which made our decision of a location very easy. There were also direct flights for all of the Jersey gals to either RDU or CHS! My mom’s house sleeps 10, so it was perfect for the occasion!
The bride wanted a disco theme, so I took to Amazon and got all of the decor! I went with stereotypical disco ball decor, but also leaned more into the 1970’s flower child kind of vibe as well.

I put together goody bags for all of the girls, which were a hit and so useful. I included fanny packs/belt bags, disco ball cups, a personalized stainless steel tumbler, portable mini fans, daisy sunglasses, cutouts of the groom’s face, and since we would be going to the beach I also included reusable tote bags and beach towels! Everything was useful, but I am not sure if I would include the disco ball cup and tumbler, but we all used both! I also included a veil covered in the groom’s face for the bride, which was a hoot!

Planning food was the biggest challenge of the whole bachelorette party since the bride has Celiac’s and needs to eat strictly gluten free with no cross contamination. Our meals included Lewis’ BBQ, Chico Feo (Folly Beach), Magnolia’s (they were so amazing with gluten free), and Baker & Brewer. We ate all of our other meals at the house, so they were safe bets.
The activities I planned were a beach day, booze cruise boat day, and nights out on the town. We went to Folly Beach the Friday of the party and used Folly Beach Chair Company to setup chairs, umbrellas, and a cooler of water for us. This was by far the best money we spent the entire weekend and they made the day so effortless and relaxing. I cannot recommend them enough! Saturday we went on a booze cruise with Charleston Party Cat, which was the most fun we had the entire weekend. We did a 2 hours cruise and it was plenty of time to get a buzz and have a solid dance party. We also got drinks at Camellia’s in the Hotel Bennet, which is beautiful and a must do for a prosecco loving bride! Luckily for us, Farra was the chillest bride ever and our “night out” was mainly just us hanging out at the house in our disco attire and then heading to the closest bar for a single drink!
The weekend was amazing, and I encourage any MOH or Bride to go to Charleston for their bachelorette party! Since it is such a popular destination, I found that all of the businesses were incredibly accommodating and helpful! Also, portable fans are a must if you chose to have a July bachelorette party!!
Here is our itinerary if anyone would like to see how we structured our days:
