Hi everyone!! I have had my eye on these Serena & Lily Dip-Dyed Stools for quite some time, but they are sold out of black and $70 is just not in my budget. I decided to hit the craft store and see if I could DIY my way to a similar look.
I found this wood stool at Hobby Lobby in their Spring Shop section. It was originally $22, but on sale for $13. It only took me a few hours to turn this into a super cute accent piece for my master bathroom.

Materials
- Wooden Stool (you can find the one I used here)
- Wood Stain
- Polycrylic Protective Finish
- Black Chalk Paint
- Paint Brush
- Painters Tape

Step 1: Stain the stool: I did one coat to get the color I wanted, but just follow the direction for whatever stain you choose. I let the stain dry overnight.

Step 2: Seal the stool with one layer of Polycrylic Protective Finish

Step 3: Measure and Tape Off Legs – I taped them off 3.5″ from the bottom

Step 4: Paint the bottom of the legs with Chalk Paint

Step 5: Remove Tape and Seal Stool Again

I am in love with how it turned out!! I’ll be sharing a before and after of my bathroom soon!
