It’s no surprise that my favorite city to visit is Charleston, South Carolina. The food, shopping, and history just can’t be beat! My mom and step father are currently buying a vacation home in Charleston, so my mom has been traveling down to the Holy City almost every other week. This weekend though she brought me along, and it was great to get some mother-daughter time in.
We stayed at The Dewberry Charleston; it’s an old office building turned hotel and it’s gorgeous. The decor is very reminiscent of the 1940’s, and the bathrooms were decked out in Calacatta marble. Located next to Marion hotel, it is in the perfect location if you’re planning on going out on King Street. Of course, I only got one picture of the bedroom featuring the wrinkled bedspread thanks to my butt.
In my opinion, the best part of Charleston is the food, and we may have over indulged in the deep fried southern goodness. Did someone say pimento cheese fritters?

Other than eating, we did a bit of shopping on King Street and at the City Market. We also did an amazing walking tour through downtown. We booked the tour through Charleston Footprints. Our guide, Michael, was great! He’s a 7th generation Charlestonian, and was able to answer pretty much any question thrown at him. If you’re looking for a way to pack a ton of Charleston history and see the most beautiful parts of the city into 2 hours, I’d recommend checking out Charleston Footprints!
Like any good weekend, it ended too soon, and I am now counting down the days until my next Chuck Town adventure! I will be doing a more inclusive post on my ultimate Charleston travel guide in the near future!
