I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend! I spent the long weekend with my mom in Charleston, South Carolina. My mom and stepfather recently bought a vacation home in Charleston, and this was the first weekend I was able to see the inside of it. I want to share the progress of the house with y’all as it goes through its transformation process.
The house was built in 1900 and has all of the charm you’d expect from a 118 year old house. The previous owners had a slightly different style than my mom’s style, so she is doing some cosmetic work to the house. Luckily there aren’t any major changes, so renovations should only last a few weeks!
So far the wallpaper has been removed from most of the house. My mom chose to leave the wall paper in the study, upstairs hallway, and guest bathroom. I’ll include a picture of the wallpaper that was in the dining room, just to give y’all an idea of what the entire house looked like before.
The next step will be to paint and remove the remaining window treatments (except the master bedroom curtains). They will also be changing most of the light fixtures in the house.
The kitchen will be getting new countertops and backsplash. As you can see, this project is already in the works. They will also be painting the cabinets white.
The study won’t be changed much, but fun fact , it used to be the kitchen house and was separate from the rest of the house. The current kitchen was added later on to connect the two sections of the house.
The powder room off of the study will be getting new paint, light fixtures, and a new vanity.
Upstairs has three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. One bedroom was previously used as a library, so it does not currently have a door. Painting and light fixtures will be the main change made to the upstairs.
I can’t wait to show y’all the finished product in a few months! My mom goes back regularly, so hopefully she’ll take pictures to share with y’all!
