Bathroom Refresh and Organization…How I make the most of my tiny space

January 22, 2021

I know that getting organized is a huge new year goal for people, and I am part of that group this year. One of the few downsides of living in a 90 year old house is that there isn’t much storage. My bathroom (see a full breakdown of my renovation from last year here) is tiny!

My Tiny Vanity

I have a small vanity and that is it when it comes to storage. I was able to fit a lot of stuff in my vanity drawers, but they slowly started to overflow as I have become more focused on my skincare routine and collected more products. I also hated having to dig through drawers to find my products, so I knew I needed to make a change. I have a small corner next to my tub that used to have a little table, but didn’t offer much storage. I decided this is where a change needed to happen.

The shelf fit perfectly in this corner!

I purchased a simple white 3 tier shelf that fit perfectly in this space! I knew the 2 things I needed to relocate from the vanity to the shelf were my skincare and my makeup. I bought a cute pink tray to display my skincare because if I put it away in a basket, I probably wouldn’t use it daily like I need to. As for the makeup, I don’t wear much anymore (thanks quarantine), so I wrangled all of it into a basket to try to hide some clutter. The bottom shelf of this unit was perfect for towels, which used to be stored in my closet in my room; this was an issue if I forgot to grab a new one on laundry day and I had to air dry and put on clothes soaking wet!

For the size of this vanity, it has a good amount of storage!

My vanity drawers now have my other daily used items such as my toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, vitamins, etc. It’s so nice to have everything a little more spread out so I am not digging. The bottom of the vanity has a pull out drawer, which is perfect for my taller products like lotions and hair products.

I couldn’t be happier with how my much more functional my bathroom is now! Next up is the kitchen!

Welcome to Bluebonnet Porch! I’m Clare, a 30 year old newlywed living in Raleigh, NC with her husband and two dogs! I bought my (well, now I guess it’s our’s) house in 2020 when I was a single 25 year old and have spent the last 4 years renovating it and making it my dream house! It is a 100ish year old craftsman bungalow in Downton Raleigh, North Carolina, and I pinch myself every day that I get to live here.

I love all things home decor, DIY, food, entertaining, reading, and working out, and I can’t wait to share more about my life with y’all!
