A Much Needed Guest Bathroom Refresh

November 8, 2023

About 2 years ago, I painted my guest bathroom bright purple. I’m not talking a cute muted moody purple, we’re talking BARNEY. I regretted the change pretty quickly after I did it but the thought of painting it again was daunting. Fast forward to a few months ago, Clare paint saw a post I tagged them in of my office which I painted using their products last year. They reached out and asked if I had any upcoming project and if so, could they send me some paint. I happily accepted and decided it was time to rectify my Barney bathroom.

Along with the paint color, I knew I also wanted to switch out some hardware, add storage, and get a longer shower curtain. I created a plan and jumped in. I painted the bathroom Greige by Clare Paint and instead of just painting the plaster portion of the wall like I did previously, I decided to paint everything. I painted the doors, trim, windows, walls, and bead board! Luckily the color I chose was a very close match to the color I painted the cabinets a few years ago, so I didn’t have to redo that project. The color is perfect! It is warm yet still chic!

I decided to change out the black iron hooks and toilet paper holder for brass options, which looked really good with the brass in the vanity light fixture that my dad had to rig to be centered over the sink. I don’t love this light fixture, but it works for what I needed. I also decided to switch out the mirror for a wood edge one that added another nice texture to the room.

The storage was the hard part for this space. I had been looking for a cabinet to fit in here since my roommate moved out almost 2 years ago, and after many many failed attempts, my mom and I finally found the perfect little shelf at an antique store in Charleston! It fit in the space perfectly and is a great space to store towels, bath bombs, and products for my guests to use!

I love your new bathroom design. It is so nice. I have been trying to decide on a paint color for my dining room.

This color is amazing and versatile! I highly recommend Clare Paint as a whole and you can order peel and stick swatches from them!

Welcome to Bluebonnet Porch! I’m Clare, a 30 year old newlywed living in Raleigh, NC with her husband and two dogs! I bought my (well, now I guess it’s our’s) house in 2020 when I was a single 25 year old and have spent the last 4 years renovating it and making it my dream house! It is a 100ish year old craftsman bungalow in Downton Raleigh, North Carolina, and I pinch myself every day that I get to live here.

I love all things home decor, DIY, food, entertaining, reading, and working out, and I can’t wait to share more about my life with y’all!
