Hey y’all! On my blog post on Wednesday, I showed the books I crafted on my mantle. It was seriously the easiest “craft” I’ve ever done. I struggle to even qualify it as a craft because it took absolutely no skill, but added so much to my mantle decor!
Materials you’ll need:
- A Hardcover Book
- Scrapbook Paper that matches you decor- I chose two different ones that had similar antiqued coloring. You can also use normal printer paper and antique it yourself!
- Scissors
- Tape
- Ruler
- Printer
Step 1:
To start, I measured the width of the spine of my book and made my design on Microsoft Word. I have included downloads at the end of this post of the designs I used. One is for a 1-inch thick book and one is for a 1.5-inch book, but you can use these on larger books also. I used an old book that I never actually finished reading, whoops, so I knew I wouldn’t need it for any reason while it was being used for decor.
Step 2:
Cut your scrapbook paper to a width that will fit in your printer. Mine only goes as wide as a normal 8.5×11 inch piece of printer paper, so I used that as a guide.
Step 3:
Load you paper into the printer and print the design!
Step 4:
Wrap the scrapbook paper around your book and tape the edges down. If you are worried about ruining your book, I’d recommend getting larger scrapbook paper to fold around the front of the book or using painter’s tape. Scrapbook paper is usually 12×12 inch, but most craft stores have various sizes available.
Step 5:
Style your books!! I placed mine under two Halloween candlesticks I got at Michael’s last year.
An just like that you’re done!! Like I said, this is a super easy little DIY that costs less than $5 and can add so much to your decor!
