Happy New Year! Can I even say that anymore seeing as it’s already January 12th? Well anyways, I hope everyone had a great holiday season. I personally had a crazy one. I hosted an amazing dinner party for my friends, had our annual fondue Christmas Eve at my house, and then moved my roommate/best friend to her new house shortly after New Year’s. Even though we’re less than 2 weeks into the year, I can already tell that 2022 is going to be a year of change for me, and as hard as it is to accept that, I know it will be good! I have big plans for my house this year, and I may be getting a little too ambitious, but if I write it here, I’m more likely to work to accomplish everything.
- Finish the Exterior of the Shed/Backyard Cleanup
The gym shed (see it here) was my biggest project of 2021 and pretty much the only project we focused on. I am so happy that it the interior is done and I can fully utilize the gym (which I am loving even more during the new year craziness at most gyms), but the exterior still has some work to do! We will be painting it, adding new siding, and just overall making it look nicer. This is going to go hand in hand with cleaning up my backyard, which has kinda been wrecked through the entire shed build process. I love entertaining, so I’d like to have the backyard back in tip top shape for Spring! - Man Cave/Office
As I mentioned before, my roommate of the last 1.5 years has bought her own house and left me an empty nester. I am still struggling to accept that she doesn’t live just up the stairs anymore, but distracting myself with planning how to use the two bedrooms upstairs has helped me get through. I am going to focus on the room that was her office first, but not getting too creative because it will stay an office. My boyfriend lives about 2 miles away and currently doesn’t have a designated workspace to use during the day. I’ve decided to make the office into a man cave for him. I am excited for this challenge because my style is obviously very feminine and I am going to be making this a masculine yet still classy room for him to enjoy and make his own (with my guidance of course). - Guest Bedroom
The other bedroom upstairs will also be getting a makeover to become my guest room. I want to step out of my comfort zone and use more color this year, so I am really trying to expand my horizons in this room. - Dining Room Refresh
My dining room feels like the heart of my downstairs since it is in between the kitchen and living room, but I have never loved it. It has always felt a little plain and cold. I am planning on replacing my chairs, putting the leaf in my table to allow it to seat 6, and add some color or pattern into the room somehow. I have a vision in my head, but don’t know how to execute it, so stay tuned! - Add Laundry Room Storage
Back in 2020, I did a laundry room makeover (see it here), and it has served me well. However, I feel like I am missing out on a lot of potential storage below my tabletop. I am going to keep it simple, but I think I have figured out how to make it much more functional for my needs!
I have plenty of other projects I’d love to do like a full bathroom renovation, new driveway, and a custom closet, but those are not realistic projects for 2022. I am hoping that these 5 projects can get done this year, and I am also making a goal of actually blogging more this year! Make sure you subscribe and follow me on Instagram so you never miss a post!

Clare,
Thanks so much for sharing about your updates. I love your style and how you play with color. I am currently working on my lanai area, the hallway into our place and my sons room. I want to have my son’s room complete before my Granny comes to visit in February sometime.

Clare, you and your dad have done a remarkable job. Loved your idea of having fondue for Christmas Eve. Did you repaint your fireplace? You will certainly be busy during the year!
