Hi y’all!! My dad and I tackled a bunch of projects recently and finally finished my laundry room!
My laundry room used to just have a washer and dryer in it. No storage, no shelving, no hooks, literally just the washer and dryer. I’ll include a picture of how that ended up working out, and trust me I am embarrassed!
This room is actually massive for a laundry room, so I decided to get creative and make the most of it. My dad helped me put 2 upper cabinets up with a clothes bar in between. This allows me to store all of my laundry and cleaning supplies as well as hang dry clothing without having to use a clunky drying rack. He also put a folding table top over the wine fridge (which used to be an eyesore in the kitchen); the table top is actually made of reclaimed wood my Paw Paw had in his barn, so it not only looks amazing but has some family significance.
The cabinets added a ton of storage, but I also decided to add a cube shelf under the table top as well as hooks for hanging my brooms, mops, etc. There is also a shelf above the cabinet, which is perfect for storing buckets and paper towels.
Aesthetically, I wanted this room to match my house, but since it is just a laundry room, I wanted to have fun with it. I decided to paint the cabinets Fantasy Pink by Benjamin Moore. I obviously love pink and this one is a little more pastel and lighter than my front door pink, so it doesn’t overwhelm the small space. I used patterned knobs and decorative hooks also to add more interest to the space. I also tried my hand at peel and stick backsplash. I loved how it turned out, but it was a pain in the but to use!
This project was super affordable! Total it was less than $350, and so worth it!
- Cabinets – $58/each ($116 total)
- Paint – $17
- Knobs – $24
- Cube Storage – $30
- Peel and stick backsplash – $30/pack ($90 total)
- Hooks – $11/each ($44 total)
- Table top – $0 (reclaimed wood)
So far this makeover has been amazing! It has increased the practicality and usability of my laundry room, and I love it. I can’t thank my dad enough for all of his help with this transformation!!

Great job Clare. My barn needs a facelift (organization) so I wouldn’t have to spend so much time looking for things.
Love that cypress table top. That wood came from a cypress swamp near Disney World Florida.
