5 Tips for Styling Your Bar Cart feat. my Halloween Bar Cart

October 20, 2019

Hi y’all! I took a bit of a blogging hiatus due to some travel and just life in general, but I am back and ready to share some new content! Today I’m sharing my top tips for styling a bar cart and showing y’all my Halloween bar cart!! If you need some inspiration for Halloween bar carts, mine was featured along with a bunch of others on Parade.com (see it here)!

  1. Pick a Theme! Having a theme for your bar cart helps streamline the decor you chose. I love decorating for seasons and holidays, but I’ve decorated around specific glass wear (i.e. copper themed with Moscow Mule mugs and margarita themed with Margarita glasses and limes). If you’re looking for inexpensive seasonal decor pieces, the dollar store and Target’s Dollar Spot has great options.
  2. Add Height! Most bar carts have 2-3 levels/shelves, so adding heigh with your decor is important to create interest. My favorite ways to add different heights is by using bottles of liquor or wine, putting decor on top of cake stands, and using books. I used all three of these methods on my Halloween bar cart this year!
  3. Invest in quality bar accessories! Almost every themed bar cart I’ve done has included my bar accessories such as my jigger, corkscrew, and cocktail shaker. These are obvious things that should be on a bar cart, so making sure they’re good quality and pretty will make it easier to style them.
  4. Play with color! Bar carts are one of the few areas of my home where I like to add a lot of color. Depending on the theme I can add color with whimsical glasses, paper straws, and bottles.
  5. Find a bar cart that matches your decor! This is probably the most important tip, but you want to make sure you find a bar cart that matches the rest of your furniture. I have a lot of farmhouse style furniture, so this bar cart from Amazon was perfect for my home. There are tons of bar carts out there, so just google your style followed by “bar cart” and you’ll be sure to find something you like.

I used all 5 of these tips as guidelines for decorating my Halloween bar cart! Did you do a festive bar cart for the spooky season?

Welcome to Bluebonnet Porch! I’m Clare, a 30 year old newlywed living in Raleigh, NC with her husband and two dogs! I bought my (well, now I guess it’s our’s) house in 2020 when I was a single 25 year old and have spent the last 4 years renovating it and making it my dream house! It is a 100ish year old craftsman bungalow in Downton Raleigh, North Carolina, and I pinch myself every day that I get to live here.

I love all things home decor, DIY, food, entertaining, reading, and working out, and I can’t wait to share more about my life with y’all!
